Skeleton Keys

At House of Antique Hardware there are no shortcuts to reproducing the past. To recreate the gentle, time-worn patina of genuine antique hardware we have developed Antique-By-Hand (ABH), an exclusive five-step finishing process. If you strive for authenticity in your project, whether it’s a historical restoration or a new home in a vintage style, our Antique-By-Hand products will satisfy your desire for a truly period look.

A Living Finish
Unlike a machine rendered and lacquered "antique brass" finish, ABH is individually applied and left unsealed. The item is hand burnished to create subtle highlights and treated with a refined mineral oil for added depth and luster. The result is a living finish with a warm, mellow tone and individuality that will age gracefully with use - just like the originals.

Caring for ABH Products
To remove any residual oil from your new ABH product, lightly wipe your hardware with a dry paper towel or rag. Thereafter, a simple dusting or gentle cleaning with a damp cloth is all we recommend. We strongly discourage using any cleansing agents or polishes, as this will remove the antique patina. Please note, your product will develop highlights from day to day handling and the overall color may lighten or darken somewhat, depending on the environment.

This pretty, brass plated skeleton keys was designed to work as a master key for antique mortise and rim locks. Featuring a double notched bit, it's likely to operate around 30% of vintage locks (results not guaranteed - operability can only be determined by testing). Made of zinc, with bright brass plating. Please note: this key is also sold together with W-06HG-400NK.
